I-605/Carson St. Improvements Project (Phase 1)

BergCM, as Prime Consultant, provided all construction management services—resident engineering, inspection, quality assurance, compliance and project controls—to the City of Long Beach for the construction of the $5 million Interstate 605/Carson St. Interchange Improvements project. This street improvement project was planned as an integral part of the local mall developer’s plans, which necessitated ancillary street improvements. Work included on and off ramp reconfiguration and widening and modifications to Carson St. including street widening, extensive staging operations to allow asphalt paving, center island construction, traffic signal installation and traffic control to avoid adverse impact to existing local business enterprises. Off-ramp construction included extensive staging to allow PCC pavement, sound wall and landscape construction. Project work was properly completed without lost time incidents or construction contract claims.
